Early Days

Dr. N Reddy is also known as Dr. Nagi was born in Hyderabad to Dr. D B Reddy, who was one of the youngest professors of pathology in India. A third-gen doctor in his family, Dr. Reddy completed his graduation from Kurnool Medical College and post-graduation from Madras Medical College. His maternal grandfather Dr. Govinda Reddy was a professor of Pathology and Medicine at Madras Medical College and a close friend of Scottish physician Alexander Fleming. Renowned professor Dr. Jagganatha Reddy happens to be his paternal grandfather. Describing his early school days in this session, Dr. Reddy mentions how mischievous he used to be as a kid.

“I locked my one-year-old brother inside the fridge.”

He also goes on to describe another incident where he burned up an entire garage to check how petrol burns. Dr. Reddy doesn’t hesitate to say that he failed in his third standard, but he never let this become a setback. Following the series of such incidents, Dr. Reddy was soon shifted to a hostel in Hyderabad.

Turning Point

Some moments mark your life. One such moment changed Dr. Nagi’s life. “He is a useless fellow.” Says Dr. Reddy recollecting his days in the ninth standard. One statement from his seniors made him work hard and secure the top position in his 10th standard which surely surprised his father. Then there was no turning back for Dr. Reddy.

“I was working for 20 hours a day… Making a lot of money.”

Another such watershed was when he was confronted by his father on his thoughts of success.

“His concept of success was different from mine and that moment I changed.”

He stresses the fact that just making money for yourself is not being successful. Success means something different. What is it? Watch this session to know the answer!

Giving Back to Society

“What you give back to society is more important than what you do in terms of making things by yourself.”

In the words of Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” What is the measure of an individual’s life? Giving back will make you feel deeply satisfied at heart. Such philanthropic activities are proven to have a positive effect on the lives of individuals and they can also infuse your life with a purpose.

“Find out your comfort level. The rest of the things should go back to society.
Then you can create something valuable.”
