Mr. S. Ramanujam is a Chartered Accountant with specialization in areas of Corporate Tax, Mergers and Demergers, Restructuring and Acquisitions. He has experience of over 40 years in the field of taxation. He spent a chief part of his career as the Executive Vice-President, Group Taxation of the UB Group, Bangalore. Mr. Ramanujam is a faculty member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, and visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He devotes extensive time to the academic arena, associating with faculty members and enriching the career orientation of students. He has delivered many lectures and presented papers in conferences besides being a regular contributor to the Hindu and the Business Line on international taxation. He has authored a popular commentary on Mergers and Acquisition known as ‘Mergers et al’ and the book ‘Brands Costs, Concepts and Case Studies’. Why paying tax is important?

“Very proudly I say I am a silver certificate recipient from the Government of India as a taxpayer.”

The Government of India has taken an initiative to felicitate individual income taxpayers by issuing them a “Certificate of Appreciation” to acknowledge their contribution towards Nation building. These certificates are divided into four different categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Mr. Ramanujam is a silver certificate recipient and proudly states the same. He further goes on to discuss some of the incidents from the UB Group, he came across in his journey.
